WATCH. The DivaGals attended the premiere screening of The Knick, a new Cinemax series, at The New York Academy of Medicine Wednesday night. The series takes place at New YorkΓÇÖs Knickerbocker Hospital, circa 1900. A new asst. director of surgery, Dr. Algernon Edwards, is hired to keep the the hospitalΓÇÖs most generous donors happy, but the color of his skin turns off the other doctors within The KnickΓÇÖs halls. Played brilliantly by Andre Holland, the actor told guests during a panel after the screening that Algernon is ΓÇ£brilliant and talented and is still not quite fitting in.ΓÇ¥ If you donΓÇÖt mind gore, you may be able to stomach the operating scenes — TV DivaGal shielded her eyes. Although that didnΓÇÖt stop me and the gang from enjoying a tapas feast of chicken and steak skewers, sweet plaintain, chocolate-covered strawberries and other tasty goodies at the post-screening fete! The Knick, which explores issues of racism, drugs, sex, and the never-ending search to modernize medicine, even when life is sacrificed to achieve it, premieres Aug. 8 on Cinemax.

At the ESPYs gift suite, the DivaGals met Heather Marianna, the Sicilian goddess behind Beauty Kitchen. TREAT 2. The ESPYs gift suite featured an ideal gift for the man in your life.
