Weekend Edition

Here’s your “Gal Approved,” Weekend Edition: Jill Zarin‘s gonna shape you up; learn to make your own All-Star Hennessy concoction; the mascara you MUST have and better than first-class flying!

STYLE. There’s one Real Housewife of New York City who knows the secret to looking fabulous: You build from the bottom up. That’s why Jill Zarin has created Skweez Couture, her new line of shaping undergarments, from high waist thongs to smooth out your tummy, to reversible form-fitting tanks. “There was a void in the marketplace and nothing that really fit my needs,” Jill told us at her Fall 2011 Collection Launch Party at sultry lounge RDV in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. “I wanted it to match skin tones, so I’ve designed the line in five skin tones.” (Including for us chocolate gals, finally!) And how brilliant is this? “It’s in lace to solids, so you go on a date in your girdle, and you go into the bathroom, flip it and you’ve got lingerie. You don’t even have to go home and change.”┬áThe secrets of a Housewife! Look for the line to debut in major department stores this fall.

DRINK. You know how much Sports Gal loved her Hennessy Black cocktail at the Hennessy Black All-Star party this past weekend. We thought you’d definitely want the recipe so you can whip up your own. Score!

2 oz Hennessy Black
3.5 oz cranberry juice
2.5 oz apple juice
Dash of lime

Build ingredients over ice, shake vigorously and garnish with blackberry. Enjoy!

DISCOVER. Who would have thunk the DivaGals would learn a major makeup lesson in Cedar RapidsΓǪ But that’s exactly what happened when we spoke with Roz Music who did makeup for the black comedy starring Ed Helms and Anne Heche, during a private reception with the cast. “L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black is the best mascara I have ever seen,” she exclaimed to us. “If you’ve got any eyelashes to work with, that is the stuff. It’s thick and it’s so black. You know how you put on some mascaras, it looks grayish-black? This is really black.” And it’s really affordable at $7.95. Get your own tube here.

INDULGE. Meet our newest, Luxe Gal, who adores the finer things in lifeΓǪ Is there anything more luxurious than being whisked off in a private jet? Think of all those movie scenes where the lucky leading lady dates a millionaire: She’s met at the door by the butler and escorted into an over-the-top romantic adventure that includes being flown somewhere exotic for a romantic dinner. This doesn’t have to just be a scene from a movie, Luxe Gal learned that while sipping champagne at the New York office launch party for XOJET, inside the swanky Campbell Apartment above Grand Central Station. Founded in 2006, XOJET is one of the fastest growing private aviation companies, with a fleet of 16 Citation Xs and eight Challenger 300s. Along with buttery soft leather seats and mini-viewing stations, the jets are 100 percent Wi-Fi equipped, so you can surf the web while sipping Kistler wines and champagne. Is it expensive? Of course! But if you fly cross country more than three times a year, you can join XOJET’s Coast2Coast program, which offers super-mid jets with no peak day restrictions, ferry charges, lock-in fees or exit penalties at 25 to 40 percent less than any comparable fractional or card private jet programs. XOJET boasts ultimate privacy and the highest safely rankings of any operator; plus, you will be on a first name basis with you own personal pilot. First Class is so pass├⌐! This is the only way Luxe Gal likes to travel from now on!
