“A lot of people associate her exclusively with her years in New Mexico, and they were many amazing photographs taken of her in the desert.
“But she had this whole other life for 40 years. Her first 20 were in New York where she met her husband, Alfred Stieglitz (played by Jeremy Irons),” Joan shares.
“Georgia actually has a lot of paintings that depict New York.”
It’s SATC life, circa the 1900s! I bet Georgia worked a bustle like nobody’s business!
Joan had one goal as she brought O’Keeffe to life on the small screen.
“I wanted to bring the authenticity that if she was looking down from heaven, she’d said, ‘You did okay,'” Joan confesses.
“I like the sense the she could feel that I managed to portray her to her satisfaction.”
We’re sure Georgia will be proud.
