By DIVAGALS | October 12, 2011 | Entertainment, Relationships
Keeping hands soft and supple is a DivaGal must. Doing our part to stop sex trafficking is a DivaGal do good. That’s why we’re all for The Body Shop Stop Sex Trafficking of Women and Young People campaign.
The body and bath luxury line showcased the focus of its latest cause at an intimate gathering in New York City.On The Body Shop website, you can sign a petition for a “safe harbor” law that would protect children who are victims of sex trafficking in the U.S. You can also purchase special items: the Soft Hands Kind Heart ($7) or Bag For Life ($5); 100 percent of the proceeds go to ECPAT USA and Somaly Mam Foundation, two organizations fighting to save children who are sexually exploited.
“Sex trafficking and its children — if this isn’t important, what is important for us?” supermodel/handbag designer Alek Wek shared with us at the event. “That’s why I’m here. It’s happening not just in Asia, it’s happening in the states too. It doesn’t have to be your immediate family for you to take action. The Body Shop is brilliant when it comes to that. They know how to raise the awareness. I was very inspired.”
