BLAQAPP and LAYERUP! honored “hidden gems” in the BIPOC community to raise global awareness around issues that impact Black and brown citizens, including the Crown Act. They also highlighted the Luisa Diaz Foundation for Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the fight to end such abuse.

Our fearless TV EIC and DivaGal wears a three-layered gown in shades of black. Create your look with a black peplum, petticoat and maxi-skirt.

Next time you’re thinking about what to wear to a gala charity event, remember black is always a great place to start! Mix it with the color of the season to really stand out while you’re making a difference.

GLA Global Gala

The Global Lyme Alliance (GLA), the leading nonprofit dedicated to conquering Lyme and other tick-borne diseases, held its annual GLA Global Gala for 2022 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. The event, which raises Lyme disease awareness and funds for research to improve diagnostics and treatments and ultimately find a cure for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases, raised more than $1.85 million to advance GLA’s mission to conquer Lyme.

Our newest DivaGal shines in a pleated Barbie-core-colored maxi-skirt and a black blouse.

Pretty, Powerful & Provocative Evening Soiree

True Indian Hair, a luxury brand of hair extensions and wigs, partnered with Pynk magazine and Milk Makeup to honor breast cancer survivors at the “Pretty, Powerful, And Provocative Evening Soiree” dinner at The Mezzanine. True Indian Hair founder Karen Mitchell planned a pampering afternoon of makeovers for several cancer warriors, providing them with hair, makeup and the Big Mouth electric toothbrushes from Dr. Bobbi Peterson, the first Black woman with her own line.

Luxe Gal works on-trend black on black, with grommeted skinny pants.
