Get Your Summer Wine Ready From These Wines From Around The Globe!By Delaina Dixon | June 13, 2019 | Lifestyle
Summertime is the perfect time to try new wines. At the Colangelo Wine Tasting event, held at Il Gattopardo restaurant, the DivaGals tried wines from around the globe. Here are some of our faves!
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
For a white wine with more bite and acidity, try Stony Hill Chardonnay. It’s not buttery like most of its counterparts. America’s 1000 Stories is a smooth Cabernet aged in bourbon barrels and pairs well with sausage pizza.
A mix of grapes from 55 different vineyards located in 11 municipalities of Franciacorta create Ferghettina’s Franciacorta Brut, a Chardonnay, Pinot bubbly blend. And who can forget one our personal faves, Zonin Prosecco. With it on hand, you can never go wrong.
Jaume Codorníu Brut, a refined blend of Chardonnay and Parellada, is perfect for the summer’s warmer months. Or try Scala Dei red blend with grapes from the Priorat region, which produces a small but highly concentrated grape harvest.
How about some wines from South America? The Cabos de Hornos from Chile is an intense, ruby-red color with shades of violet, offering cassis and black cherry fruit flavors that mix with blond tobacco and a touch of mocha. The Septima Obra Malbec from Argentina has sweet dark plum notes with a dry raisin taste. It offers a smooth finish and goes well with empanadas, tacos and cheese.
If you’re looking for the dry and not too sweet Rose wine, Chateau Peyrassol offers notes that are not too fruity but still has balance. France’s Louis Roederer Brut Premier takes 6.5 years to make: first the wine for three, then the bubbles for three and six more months of aging to create this sophisticated and refined champagne.
We also tried the delicious Partida tequila which was smooth and fruity.
