HAMPTONS HAUTE WEEK The Restaurant: beachhouse

This week, the DivaGals get their summer on in one of the hottest getaway spot in the nation: Hamptons, N.Y. We bring you some of our favorite restaurants and lodgings from Long Island’s own summer haven. Plus, how to get your style on when you hit the beach!

The DivaGals spent a haute weekend in East Hampton enjoying the beaches and summer cocktail soirees. When hunger set in we made our way to beachhouse for cocktails and al fresco dining.

Founded by restaurateur Michael Gluckman, the restaurant/bar/lounge airy decor is a combination of exposed brick, wicker furnishings and lots of wood. The friendly and efficient staff were inviting, and we met the cute chef Dennis Farrell, who shared with us stories of his exotic travels, and how they are infused the beachhouse menu.

The cocktail of choice was the popular 30 oz. margarita. We caution you, this drink is not for the weak! Ideally it should serve four, but two of us took the plunge. We selected an assortment of seafood menu items, starting with a generous fresh raw platter: oysters, clams, Ceviche and the largest shrimp I had ever seen! Everything was fresh and delicious!

Our entree was the very popular Lobster Salad and Lobster Glazed Seared Local Sea Scallops over Truffle Sweet Cream Corn. Dessert was a fresh turn on coffee and donuts: a mini moose served with four mouth-sized sugar donuts. We also tasted an all-American favorite, an ice cream sundae complete with a chunks of brownie and a cherry on top.

beachhouse is sunny, refreshing, appetizing and warm … which is everything we love about summer!

beachhouse is located at 103 Montauk Highway, East Hampton, N.Y., (631) 324-1663.
