One of the hottest workouts on the planet is cycling, and now it’s become a reality series! Hollywood Cycle premieres on E! tonight, chronicling the lives of instructors at West Hollywood spin studio Cycle House.
“Where else can you exercise for 45 minutes, burning as many calories as you can and having as much fun as you are,” says instructor Nichelle Hines, who we spoke with recently inside the plush Four Seasons Hotel. “It keeps you engaged, it keeps you interested, the music is constantly changing and it’s low impact on your joints.”
Nichelle teaches alongside fellow instructors Nick Houslow and Aaron Hines, who just happens to be her brother! He shared, “Cycling has evolved over the years. Think back 10, 15 years ago and taking a cycling class–it was almost kind of boring. The legs were moving, but we weren’t going anywhere. Now it’s a completely different ballgame. Our job is to be so engaging and make sure every time we step up on that podium everyone is having a blast.”
While you’ll definitely see these three on their bikes, you’ll get to see them out of the saddle as well. “You’re going to be in all of our homes, and you’re going to see some drama,” promised Nichelle. The crew is also opening a new studio in Santa Monica, which means there’s a need for new instructors. “At Cycle HouseΓǪ that’s a really tough job to get, it’s rigorous. I would say of our training program, the success rate is 30 percent, maybe even less.” She even hinted that it may be time to cut ties with Cycle House, oh my!
For now, we’re so glad Nichelle became an elite instructor herself. “I used to weigh 206 lbs.,” she revealed. Since discovering cycling over a decade ago, she’s lost more than 60 lbs. You go Diva!
