Hi Divas! So we’re one week into our 30-day glow-up plan. We realize it can be challenging to wrap your head around making changes in your life, so we’ve got four how-to glow-up tips we’re following to become the best version of ourselves. Feel free to incorporate any or all that work into your life!

Get out and walk

You do it every day, but I bet you never knew how much walking can benefit your life. Studies show that 30 minutes of walking daily can increase cardiovascular fitness, strengthen bones, reduce excess body fat, and boost muscle power and endurance. If you do it outside during sunlight hours, you get an added vitamin D. Walking 30 minutes is a lot easier now that the weather is nicer in New York City, but a 30-minute treadmill walk, where you can inclines and speed changes, is also beneficial.

TIP: Break it up into smaller chunks if you can’t do all 30 minutes at once.

Wash your face

I have a terrible habit of not wanting to wash my face at night. It’s the last thing I want to do after a long day. “Sleeping in makeup isn’t great for your skin,” explains Dr. Cleansing your skin in the evening allows the face time to reset and repair while we sleep. I realized I didn’t enjoy the process of scrubbing down the day’s dirt, so I’m letting the ageLOC® LumiSpa® iO do it for me. This powerful little tool provides deep cleansing in a single treatment. It’s designed to cleanse away dirt, oil, makeup, pollutants, and toxins through its patented Micropulse Oscillating technology and pore-purifying action without disrupting your skin’s delicate microbiome. I’ve been using it for a week, and my skin looks refreshed and renewed. And waking up with a clean pillowcase is a joy.

TIP: Too tired to get to the sink? Keep makeup removers near your bed so you can remove at least one layer of grime before your head hits the sheets.

Drink that H2O

Water is the backbone of life: The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine has determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women and about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day for men. Sure, you can fancy it up with lemons and cucumbers, but you have to have enough in a cup to get in all that water. The answer? Filling a 40 oz. OWALA water bottle at the beginning of the day and not going to bed till it’s finished. This way I know I’m getting at least five cups of water, along with the other fluids I’m having that day. Do it twice a day if you’re working out or actively on a weight loss plan.

TIP: Fill your bottle before you go to bed so it’s ready for you in the morning to have that first sip as soon as you wake up.

Get Tailored

In our business, you have to go out quite a bit. If you’re throwing on a cute outfit at 5 p.m. to be at the cocktail preview at 5:30, the worst thing is pulling an item out of your closet and it’s missing a button, the hem is too long or it’s just not pressed. This past weekend I pulled everything out of my closet for a full assesment of what needed to be mended and steamed. Grab a small tailors’ kit and watch this video to learn to sew on a button; hemming tape can be a lifesaver when shortening pants. Make friends with your tailor to get more complicated items mended.

TIP: Keep digital files of your clothing so you know exactly what you have and can pull it out quickly. INDYX is an online app you can use to create your own Cher from Clueless-inspired fashion library.
