How To Pamper Yourself In Trying Times (Stay Safe and Sane!)

COVID-19 has changed the way people around the world are living our lives. Many cities and countries across the globe are in situations where they have to isolate themselves from others and practice social distancing. How can we keep ourselves safe, sane and happy when we’re dealing with this unprecedented pandemic? Take some time out to pamper yourself. 

A good pamper isn’t just about slathering on good products. It’s about anything that helps you relax: reading a good e-book, listening to you your fave Audible, getting in a great workout on your favorite fitness streaming session it’s all about doing what you want to do to make you feel great.

Here are some of our suggestions of things to try and invest in you!

Work It Out. One of the best ways to keep your spirits up is to keep moving. You could try dancing on your balcony like the Italians have been doing. And you can find every type of workout you could ever imagine (and some you haven’t) on YouTube — and it’s free! Try to get in at least minutes of movement each day to kick in your endorphins while you are cooped up inside.

Learn A New Skill. Speaking to YouTube,  you can learn practically anything from millions of enterprising people across the globe. Some of our favorites are Blueprint DIY, a site dedicated to upcycling thrift clothing; Youdah Essentials and Thrift Diving, channels dedicated to ingenious home design on a budget and Zeelicious Foods, dedicated to African and healthy cooking.

Take A Bath. Nothing is better than soaking in a bath full of bubbles or bath salts. But there’s never enough time… Well, you’re working from home now, why not do it in the tub? For a calm experience, add a little vanilla, and for a deeper scent use things like jasmine or lavender. Once the work is done, put on your favorite music and sing along. 

Do Your Own Mani-Pedi. Don’t let your nails fall apart just because of your home. Keep paying some attention to the extremities! A home mani-pedi can be done while listening to your favorite music or while watching all the COVID-19 updates. To up your mani-pedi game, invest in paraffin wax to really cleanse and soften up your hands and feet. Make the buffing and shining easier on yourself with an electric nail file set. 

Spend Time… With Friends. Yes, we said with friends. But do it virtually! Recently, the DivaGals hopped on Skype, glasses of wine in hand, to watch Netflix’s Love Is Blind finale together. It was so much fun to connect with our pals in other cities over our TV guilty pleasure.  How about planning photos slide shows of you with your pals and enjoy a trip down memory lane together. You may not physically be together, but you’re still connected. 

Plan A Vacation. Yes, we said it. One of the biggest industries being crippled by the virus is tourism. At some point, life will go back to normal. And we all need to do our part to get the world back on track. Prices to travel will most likely be at their lowest; pick a place you’ve always wanted to see.
