At a sumptuous lunch hosted by the InterContinental New York Barclay, I got the inside scoop on the hotel brand’s groundbreaking global partnership with Timeshifter. Co-founded by CEO Mickey Beyer-Clausen alongside renowned Harvard Medical School associate professor and chief scientist Dr. Steven Lockley, Timeshifter is a company devoted to minimizing jet lag for frequent jet-setters.
Through this new collaboration, the brand is extending complimentary, personalized jet lag plans to every guest across InterContinental’s portfolio. It’s part of the hotel’s “Intentional Flexibility” strategy, a holistic approach designed to help modern travelers beat fatigue and look, feel, and perform at their best.
Because jet lag stems from a clash between your brain’s central circadian clock and your new time zone, Timeshifter’s revolutionary technology uses your specific flight itinerary, sleep habits, and chronotype to reset your body clock up to four times faster. Backed by top circadian scientists like Dr. Lockley, the app strategically maps out light exposure, smart napping schedules, and micro-doses of caffeine to keep you sharp without ruining your nighttime rest.
InterContinental seamlessly pairs this tech with targeted, nutrient-packed cuisine, offering customizable Nourish Bowls and Anytime Plates tailored to your metabolic needs at any hour. From B12-rich egg dishes that naturally curb unwanted melatonin to magnesium-dense greens that fight off dehydration and energy slumps, every bite is pure perfection. Dauntie sampled a few delicious Nourish Bowls, the ultimate mid-day recharge, while chatting with Michael López-Alegría, an astronaut and consultant who uses Timeshifter.
This fabulous perk is rolling out across InterContinental’s 242 properties in nearly 70 countries—just in time to celebrate the luxury brand’s 80th anniversary. That means wherever you choose to toast to this historic milestone, you’ll actually be wide awake to enjoy it.
We also got some cool gadgets to help with our efforts, including the Manta PRO Sleep Mask, Look Red Lens Glasses, a satin pillowcase and a travel adapter so we can charge our phones for selfies no matter what country we’re in.
For me, staying energized meant heading over to the IHG suite at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York, for 2026 US Open Fan Week, where legends Roger Federer, Andre Agassi, John McEnroe, and Andy Roddick served up a thrilling doubles match.
I admired the signature Grey Goose Honey Deuce cocktails from afar while happily sipping champagne from our souvenir cups.
After all the court-side excitement, it was back to the InterContinental Barclay, where I met a pal of mine at The Parlour, the hotel’s lobby bar, for great cocktails. I then headed to my room on the fifth floor for a blissfully restful night, tucked into custom Sobel-Westex plush bedding and premium linens. A long, luxurious shower featuring Byredo’s iconic Bal d’Afrique bath collection left me feeling thoroughly pampered (though the shower extension head had a mind of its own!), and the next morning, I treated myself to a lavish room service breakfast.
