The Bachelor's Jake Pavelka: Not Dancing For the FameBy Delaina Dixon | March 2, 2010 | Entertainment
The Bachelor‘s Jake Pavelka is slipping into sequins later this month as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. But the pilot swears to the TV DivaGal he’s not doing it for the fame.
“I didn’t approach anybody at any of the networks. I haven’t been auditioning or anything. I don’t have a publicist. I’m probably the only Bachelor cast member that doesn’t have an agent,” he tells the TV DivaGal.
“The cameras are not what I’m after, it’s the competition, and what an opportunity. I can’t imagine being able to dance and that level and train with professionals like that. It’s like conquering a dream.”
So how will the guy who defies the odds in the air keep his feet on the ground in a dance competition?
“My muscles are really short and powerful and built to lift heavy weight, not be graceful and glide around a dance floor, so I’ve been trying to turn myself into a pretzel stretching,” Jake says. “Getting hurt, that’s my biggest fear because my body’s not build to dance.”
Jake and Vienna Girardi will relocate to Los Angeles for the span of his competition, and his new fiancee says he has her full support. “I’m going to be his biggest cheerleader on our next adventure together.”
The 23-year-old marketing representative also hopes to pursue her own career while in Tinseltown.
“I’m actually going to try and do some motivational speaking for young women while I’m in L.A.”
Not even going there.
Dancing with the Stars, starring Jake Pavelka, debuts Monday, March 22 on ABC.
