Crunch Signature Fitness: Pop Dance Project
I decided to start my adventure with one of Crunch Signature Series classes: Pop Dance Project led by Mitchell W. at the 54th street location. Mitchell has energy for days, and he brings it to the classroom!
We started with warmups: four fast and furious dances to songs you know including “You Can’t Stop The Beat” from the musical Hairspray. After that Mitchell started breaking down the moves for choreography to “Genie In a Bottle” — old school Christina Aguilera. We squatted, shimmied our hips and even ronde de jambe-d as Christina sang she wanted to “rub us the right way.” I felt like Beyonce’s backup dance crew: fierce!
Who Should Take Pop Dance Project?
To be most comfortable in this class, you should be able to pick up steps quickly or maybe even have some dance training. Of course, Mitchell encourages you to do your best even if you don’t have every move perfect, which I was glad to hear. By the end of class, I was thoroughly soaked, felt every muscle and had burned just over 500 calories. This is one great way to lose weight.
