LUXE GAL: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo In Style!By Maureen Martin | May 4, 2013 | Entertainment, Food Fashion Style
Just in time for Cinco de Mayo on May 5, here are some ways to get in the spirit!
To make the perfect margarita, use three essential ingredients: Cointreau, tequila and lime juice! As the creator of the margarita, Margarita Sames always said, ΓÇ£A margarita without Cointreau is not worth its salt!ΓÇ¥ CointreauΓÇÖs orange zest delivers a rich sweetness to the margarita, without compromising its bitter and salty taste.
Try this recipe: Mexican Avocado Margarita
1 fully ripened avocado from Mexico, halved, pitted, peeled and chopped
2/3 cup sweet-and-sour margarita mix
1/2 cup tequila
1/2 cup Cointreau
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
In a blender, process avocado, margarita mix, tequila, liqueur and lime juice. Cover and process until smooth. Add 3 cups ice cubes. Process until almost smooth; do not overblend. Serve in glasses rimmed with salt or chili-lime salt if desired; garnish with thin slices of avocado. Makes six drinks, about 5 cups.
