Makeover Monday! ImageGal Samantha Bessudo Drucker Shares Her Best-kept Style Secret: Interplay Couture!By Samantha Bessudo Drucker | July 13, 2020 | Food Fashion Style
No matter who you are, your persona in the world, or size and shape, there are treasures to be found at La Gallery Interplay Couture. It’s my secret style “go-to” and favorite shopping experience. For decades, dynamic style gurus Lynn and Gil Cohen have created transformative, innovative and exciting shopping experiences for beginner and advanced fashionistas.
After being in a COVID lockdown for four months, I felt like getting dressed again. Now in production for three shows: Love & Design Project, 90 Days to Husband No. 2 and Sexy Is Timeless Talks, I was in need of some wardrobe changes.
It had been a very long while since I had the time and the chance to do any wardrobe building. With nothing to wear and little desire to shop for anything in these COVID-infected times, what to do? What an exciting excuse to reconnect with my longtime friends!
I knew Lynn would have me sorted out in no time. With Zoom and FaceTime shopping options and the ability to ship anywhere, this was a no brainer. I confessed to Lynn my quarantine weight gain and what I was up to. With joy, laughter and flare, I had a new capsule wardrobe and a gold sequin mask on the way in about an hour!
I’ve been getting tons of compliments on this red long-sleeved mini-dress, a new favorite in my closet. My fashion passion for this boutique started over a decade ago when I walked by their window in New York City and was mesmerized. After 20 years as a celebrity image consultant, I admit to being a bit of a fashion snob. Feeling like I’d seen it all, few things stopped me in my tracks. I had to go in, and I stepped into a fashion wonderland.
Truly, this store had something for everyone. I was greeted by a striking redhead in a fabulous fashion-forward outfit wit. With her casual elegance, you can go anywhere comfortably and effortlessly. I gazed around at the exciting displays divided into sections: black and white, sexy animal prints, florals, stripes and all of the colors you could want! There were evening dresses, shoes, bags, belts, & fun costume jewelry. Miracle jeans to make you look taller and slimmer, and the leather and pleather, suedes and microfibers could too. Wonderfully dressed mannequins were everywhere to lend inspiration. The decor was avant-garde, yet plush and comfortable. The music was wonderful and the vibe was energizing and positive. I had never seen anything like this magical house of style. I was offered a glass of champagne, cocktails, expresso. An assortment of nut mix, chocolate, crudité and other delights were available. A dog and a cat came to say hello. Now I was in love!
I started small: a pair of pants and a jacket. First I became a regular, then an addict, for myself and for my clients. I started bringing every client I could because it was just so easy and fun to shop there. Gil is a charismatic, creative genius with shrewd
Runway Couture was my happy place. Sometimes when I was running around SoHo for clients I would stop in just for a dose of the fabulous vibe and have a little drink on what I dubbed “my lucky sofa.” Every time I sat there my phone would ring with good news and new clients.
When the building was sold, Runway Couture relocated to New Jersey as Interplay Couture. It was kismet — now Lynn and Gil have a shorter commute and are closer to their beautiful animal rescue sanctuary efforts. A percentage of their business goes towards their animal rescue.
Thank you, Lynn! A toast to Interplay Couture: style made fun and simple for all situations, even the ones we never imagined.
