Want To Meet More Guys This Year? Hang Out At A Classy Sports Bar!

Spring is in full bloom, which means it’s the time for romance. So where can a DivaGal meet a potential candidate? How about NYC’s coolest new sports bar! Last night I went to the┬áopening of Vintage 61, a bistro that┬áconnects food, wine, sports and spirits. Trying a brand new restaurant in New York City sounds like something fun and exploratory to do — unless you’re like me. When it comes to food and drinks, I’m a lover of tasty food but a not-so-much-lover of trying new places to eat. But the thought of mingling with the opposite sex over cocktails and championships was enough for me to make the trip.

Vintage 61 gets its name from the year 1961, one of the best for the NY Yankee lineup and for Bordeaux. With appealing ambiance that mixes American fare with French influence, it’s a great opportunity to meet guys who like sports and fine wines. A professional staff has been curated by owners Laurent Vasseur and Jason Casano, who I felt I’ve known my whole life.

If you are into great food, I mean who┬áisn’t, this is the┬áplace to eat! Here are my recommendations: for starters, the wings are to die for, the meat falls right off of the bone! My favorite entree is┬ádefinitely┬áthe Short Ribs. It’s braised with red┬áwine and comes with mashed potatoes on the side – a dish I could order every night.

Now let’s talk cocktails, cocktails, cocktails! There are two signature drinks┬áthat you should indeed try: “The Catch,” which is tequila, fresh strawberries, peach blossom and fresh lime juice. I watched my┬áamazing bartender make this drink right in front of my┬áeyes; every drink is made fresh.

If you’re like me and may have a few too many cocktails at dinner then your second drink should┬ádefinitely be “The French Goal,” made with vodka,┬áMidori, peach┬áschnapps, cranberry,┬áorange and┬ápineapple juice. These fun sport-oriented names are sure to bring a smile to any sports lover face.

Speaking of sports – Vintage 61 has an online calendar of sporting events you can take in at the location, which is easily accessible by several subway lines. We’re thinking this will bring the men out in droves. Baseball Championships anyone?
