NBC TV Press Tour Winter 2020. Dwayne Johnson Series! ‘The Kenan Show’ Drop Date. Gabby Union’s Return to ‘AGT’?By Delaina Dixon | January 11, 2020 | Entertainment
Hello Divas! We’re back in Pasadena, Calif., for TV Press Tour, Winter 2020! First up, NBC – and here’s what you need to know from the Peacock Network!
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is joining NBC with The Young Rock, a sitcom that’s gone straight to series. And if you guessed that it’s about his life growing up, it is (can’t wait to find out what he ate as a child!). And holla – Dwayne will be featured in every episode. “I have talked about this wild, unpredictable childhood of mine,” Dwayne shared with us just some of the things he plans to explore on the show: Dwayne wreaking havoc in Hawaii and getting arrested practically every week; being evicted off the island and moving to Nashville, Tenn where he brought his first car from a crackhead for $70; his days at University of Miami as a football star and his starting days as a professional wrestler — that critical time before the WWE where he made $40 match. Fresh Off the Boat creator Nahnatchka Khan is the series showrunner.
Kenan Thompson has finally gotten his pay-off. The SNL veteran is launching his own series The Keenan Show, next season. On this fun sitcom, Kenan strives to be a super dad to his two adorable girls while simultaneously balancing his job and his father-in-law – played by Andy Garcia – who helps in the most inappropriate ways.
Jimmy Fallon has a new primetime show called That’s My Jam, which extends his love and passion for music on The Tonight Show to an earlier hour.
This Is Us isn’t the only show with a three-season commitment. New Amsterdam’s 20 million viewers will be happy to know the medical drama has gotten the same deal.
The biggest question hanging over NBC’s head is whether Gabrielle Union, who was unceremoniously dumped from the judge’s table on America’s Got Talent – and actually made a complaint about it – will ever return to the show. Paul Telegdy, Chairman of NBC Entertainment had the answer of no real answer. “I feel I can’t say anything that would impact an investigation,” was his response, adding that the investigation should be wrapped up by the end of January 2020.
NBCUniversal is launching “Peacock,” an upcoming American over-the-top subscription video-on-demand streaming service, in April 2020.
