New Moon Star Learned Everything From Sir Ian McKellenBy Delaina Dixon | November 6, 2009 | Entertainment
Not only is he appearing as Volturi vampire Caius in part II of the Twilight saga New Moon, he’s set to star as young evil wizard Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II. Two teen titan movie franchises? Not bad for a boy on the brink of his 21st b-day!
Of course, people in the know (TV DivaGal readers!), can catch the Sweeney Todd star a whole week early in AMC’s upcoming mini-series, The Prisoner.
Jamie is 11-12, the son of No. Two (played by Sir Ian McKellen) in the thriller series about a mysterious island no one can seem to get off of.
“My character has something missing from his life and he’s not sure what it is,” Jamie revealed the TV DivaGal at the telefilm’s screening party on Tuesday night. And yes, he’s gonna get schooled on just what it is, for sure!
As for having legendary actor McKellen play his dad (he stars in Lord of the Rings, dammit!), Jamie declared, “I stole everything from him. Not material possessions, but I tried to steal the way he speaks and acts.”
Jamie made it clear that it’s his honor to be McKellen’s onscreen offspring, not the other way around.
“Me playing his son that was the defining moment. It makes me sound like the more important one if I say he was playing my father. He’s an amazing actor and a genuinely great person, so I’m blessed.”
There weren’t a gaggle of screaming teen girls around for this opening, but Jamie’s well aware that he’s about to become a bonafide heartthrob when New Moon hits theaters Nov. 20. Of course, the British cutie takes that in stride.
“To be able to work in general is a great thing, in this film and New Moon and Harry Potter. They’re three things that I’m so proud of. I’m really psyched just to be able to work all the time.”
Majorly humble too! That makes the TV DivaGal want to let out a scream!
Catch Jamie in The Prisoner, the three-night mini-series, beginning Sun. Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. on AMC.
