Another New York Fashion Week has come and gone, and Daunie on the Go spent an entire day visiting independent brands, designers and platforms dedicated to bringing diverse voices to fashion.
GLD x Cjay Syre Collab
My stylish Saturday began with the launch of GLD x Cjay Syre’s Question Mark Collection. The six-piece collaboration transforms Syre’s signature question-mark motif into a lineup of bejeweled statement pieces designed to make people look twice. Bold, playful and unapologetically eye-catching, it was worth the trip down to the Lower East Side to see his evolving style.
House of Nova’s Worldly Runway
From there, it was off to West 25th Street, where House of Nova debuted Between Worlds, a collection by designer Nova Lorraine (pictured up top) inside the back room of The Brownstone Cafe.
A café may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think “Fashion Week runway,” but that was part of its charm. The room had been transformed into an intimate presentation space, complete with rows of chairs draped in soft cream coverings. It felt polished, cocoon-like and refreshingly removed from the frenzy happening outside. And yes, this DivaGal had a front-row seat.

Lorraine described Between Worlds as a collection created “for a moment when fashion is no longer asked to sit in one category.” That idea came through in looks that moved between softness and structure, ritual and reinvention, memory and technology. Bold silhouettes brought a sense of play, while deeply saturated colors gave the collection confidence, energy and movement.
Technology was also part of the experience. Ping introduced guests to its smart ring, a wearable designed to make sharing contact information as simple as a tap—a fitting addition to a presentation already exploring the intersection of fashion and what comes next.
The evening also included support from Play Human, NIVEA, Donna, Miss Jessie’s, Too Skilled, VO and The Flex Brush, all in an impressively stocked gift bag. And a good Fashion Week gift bag is always appreciated!
Fashion Bomb Daily’s 20th Anniversary Fashion Show
I then joined my fellow DivaGals, Nigerian actress Susan Peters and TikTok mysoftgirllifestyle creator Maureen Martin, at Lavan Chelsea, where we celebrated its 20th anniversary with the sixth annual Bomb Fashion Show with founder Claire Sulmers (on left). Sulmers started Fashion Bomb Daily in 2006, and the platform has grown from an independent blog into a multicultural fashion powerhouse that consistently champions emerging designers, celebrity style and creatives too often overlooked by traditional fashion media.

Among the champagne-themed celebration, we took our seats in the front row for featured runway presentations from BruceGlen, FGM Bespoke, Jai Lyle and Mahogani Collections, along with the official launch of Belo Records & Co. and a performance by B1NCO. And we spotted some familiar celeb faces in the room: Claressa Shields and her love Papoose, media personality Shannon LaNier and his gorgeous daughter, and more.
Sulmers began Fashion Bomb Daily after struggling to find her place within the traditional fashion industry. Instead of waiting for an invitation, she created her own platform—and spent the next two decades making room for others—something the DivaGals admire.
From a question mark reimagined in jewels to a coffee shop transformed into a runway and a blog that grew into a cultural institution, each experience celebrated creatives willing to make their own lane, which may be the most fashionable statement of all.
