Redo Your Space! Small Apartment Makeover – Part IBy Delaina Dixon | November 28, 2017 | Food Fashion Style
Hello Divas! While living in New York City means experiencing one of the greatest cities on Earth on the daily, it usually means living in a space that’s far from spacious. TV DivaGal has been living in a 300 sq. ft apartment for over a decade, and let us tell you – we’re starting to feel its lack of roominess.
She’s finally ready to do something about it — after┬áall, a Diva deserves her luxury oasis, even if it’s only a tiny sliver of space!
We’ve turned to interior designer to the stars Joy Moyler of Joy Moyler Interiors┬áand image consultant/Image Gal herself Samantha von Sperling, who’s launching a new design series in 2018 for some great ideas on how to turn this drab hovel into a fabulous haven with some of the best design products, smart spacing solutions and a major facelift of color and texture!
First up? Joy talks turning a shabby interior into chic style!
My concept for Delaina is a mix of transitional styles, by keeping furnishings very light framed and off the floor to make this space feel more airy and spacious. First off, we’d paint the room in Benjamin Moore’s Tundra (2133-70), the palest of grey colors.
A generous died area rug would ground the space, a fairly neutral palette, with pops of color. My choice is from Nourison.
A mix of metals, in mirrors, chair frames, etc., keeps items eclectic with an interesting modern mix. More than anything the goal is to create a pretty vanity. A stool keeps everything light, instating of having a high back chair. A piece from Impressions Vanity Company  and Joss & Main Aldine Stool do the trick.
The bed needs gorgeous (yet affordable) bedding. I’m thinking classic white crispness with detail on the pillowcases, like this gorgeous ┬áMoroccan Gate Bedding from┬áWilliam Sonoma Home.
The bedroom area could have drapery sheers on a rod that totally create a separate enclosure for the bed allowing a light, very romantic and sexy vibe! Who can’t use more sexiness, right!
I’m loving a loveseat, like the Abernethy Armless Loveseat in Jiri, pictured up top, opposite lounge chairs look for additional seating, so you entertain all year long.
Tune in all winter long for our Small Apartment Makeover series!
