Black Panther brought action, culture, and style to the biggest superhero franchise in the world, all thanks to the team of talented creatives, including Ruth E. Carter, behind it. Now eight years later, the award-winning costume designer is reportedly coming back for the latest installment in the Black Panther universe.
Of course, the news has Marvel fans pumped. Carter and Ryan Coogler’s collaboration built an Afrofuturistic kingdom that helped cement the billion-dollar-grossing movie as part of the culture, complete with iconic fashion worn by every actor on the screen.
The news is sure to assure fans who are waiting with baited breath to see the introduction of a new Black Panther, actor David Jonsson. Jonsson has some big shoes to fill when he takes on the role of Prince T’Challa II, the in-universe son of Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa. While there has been a lot of change in the franchise, fans can rest easy knowing that, just like our original Black Panther, he’ll be flaunting the most stylish looks in the MCU.

Carter has built her long career designing the wardrobes that make movies come to life. She’s raked up plenty of recognition for her work, repeatedly gracing the nominations list of some of the most glamorous nights in Hollywood. The designer holds the title of the most nominated Black woman in the history of the Academy Awards, and it comes as no surprise—she’s proven her range of creativity from the sets of School Daze to Sinners.
There’s no telling how high Carter’s going to set the bar for this next release, but we’re all excited that she’s decided to step back into the world of Wakanda.
