See Once Upon A One More Time On Broadway

The new musical Once Upon A One More Time is a little goofy. And cheerful. And Clumsy, or at least for one so-named character on stage. The story takes place in a land filled with our favorite fairy tale characters who are called on to act out those beloved tales on a nightly basis. That is until Cinderella realizes there’s “something missing in her life.” She convinces her fellow princesses, like Snow White (wonderfully played by Aisha Jackson), to rise and say “Gimme gimme more.” Why all the Britney Spears references? This jukebox production features the iconic pop star’s greatest hits.

I won’t go any deeper into the convoluted plot, but I will say that Justin Guarini is devilishly charming in the role of—what else—Prince Charming. He sings! He leaps! He prances! He does original Spears choreography! Guarini brings so much infectious joy and committed corniness to the role, it’s easy to see why a princess would want her happily ever after with him, at least the first time around.
