Despite all the festivities I had planned for NBA All-Star weekend this Sports Gal, along with many celebs, took time out on a rainy Friday to attend and support the Global Action ForumΓÇÖs inaugural Awards Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Miley Cyrus, actresses Hilary Duff and America Ferrera were in attendance to support their respective charities, “Blessings in a Backpack” and “Save the Children.” Rebecca Romjin and Joely Fisher were present, as both are long-time supporters of “Save the Children.” Other celebrities that braved the rain included Sharon Lawrence, Anne Archer, Jimmy Jean Louis, Kate Shindle, Elaine Hendricks and Daphne Zuniga.
The Global Action Forum is an invitation-only organization dedicated to building bottoms up philanthropy campaigns rather than employing traditional fundraising techniques. It brings together A-list activists, philanthropists, and aspiring activists to teach them how to effectively leverage their assets to make the changes they wish on the issues that inspire the most passion in them.
The Global Action Awards recognize the power that each individual has to solve problems, save lives and change futures. They were presented for innovative, effective and measurable solutions to global challenges and to collaborative corporate citizenry projects and campaigns that set standards and serve as catalysts for action. The first recipients of this prestigious honor included Miley, who received the Global Action Youth Leadership Award for her work with “Get Ur Good On.”
