Sports Gal didnΓÇÖt pick winners for the Championship games because she was trying not to jinx her team. It didnΓÇÖt help.
The Jets tried their best, but when Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall runs for 121 yards, averaging 4.5 yards a carry, you can pretty much guess the outcome.
That type of running game doesnΓÇÖt just wear down a defense, it also grinds up clock. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin deserves massive amounts of credit for changing his game plan just enough to throw the Jets defense off.
Unfortunately, Jets QB cutie Mark Sanchez showed he still has a way to go before heΓÇÖs ready to carry the team in games like these. There was a valiant effort at a comeback that made the final score presentable. But in the end, defeating the Colts, Patriots and Steelers in one post-season was just too much of a pipe dream.
Moving on to the big day Feb. 6… I’ll admit that I am on the Packers bandwagon, have been since they beat Philadelphia at home on Wild Card weekend. The Packers are playing inspired football. They simply believe they are the best team on the field, and then play like it.
Of course it doesnΓÇÖt hurt them that Chicago BearsΓÇÖ QB Jay Cutler was not at his best and went down with an injury. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers continues to bury the ghost of Brett Favre with his success. ItΓÇÖs hard not to keep rooting for him.
As for my beloved Jets, weΓÇÖll have better luck next year!!
See you at the next play!
