5 Divalicious Ways To Stay in Shape And Embrace Wellness Through The Holiday SeasonBy Tatiana Henderson | December 13, 2023 | Lifestyle
Hi DivaGals! I wanted to eat right and work out during the holidays, but with food all around and family and friends encouraging me to indulge, it seemed like an impossible endeavor.
Determined to stay in shape and focus on my health, I did a little research and realized as the festive season unfolds, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of celebration and overlook my health.
Are you grappling with the same issues during the season? I’ve got five ways to stay in shape during the holidays. By incorporating these simple yet effective strategies, you can enjoy the celebrations guilt-free and nurture your overall wellness.
Make Mindful Eating Mantras
It’s so tempting to overindulge during holiday gatherings! Mindful eating can help maintain balance. Before reaching for that extra serving, I pause and savor each bite. I also opt for healthier options when possible and practice portion control. Sure, you can enjoy the seasonal delicacies, but let’s do it in moderation!
Create Active Traditions
We’ve got holiday traditions, but a revamp can help them include physical activity: a family dance-off, a post-dinner walk ritual or a friendly sports tournament. These activities not only get you moving, but they will create cherished memories with loved ones.
Schedule Some Self-Care
Ahhh, self-care. Schedule moments of tranquility—a hot bath, meditation sessions or simply reading a book by a fireplace. These moments will recharge your spirit and help manage stress, contributing to your overall sense of comfort and well-being.
Get a Buddy
It’s easier to work out when someone else is expecting you to, so enlist the support of friends or family members who share your wellness goals. Plan workouts or walks together, exchange healthy recipes and provide some “you go girl” energy to stay on track. Having someone to hold you accountable can make a significant difference in staying motivated.
Keep It Flexible
The holiday season is about joy, not perfection. Allow yourself flexibility in your routine. If you miss a workout or indulge more than planned, don’t freak! Avoid the guilt by being kind to yourself, focusing instead on balance and consistency in the long run.
