STYLE GALS: How to Create Perfect Summer Braided Hair!

By   |   July 17, 2012   |   Entertainment, Lifestyle

When the weather gets warm your entire beauty routine changes, including your hair.

Summertime is the perfect time to lighten up a bit! One great idea is braided extensions. You can get a new lighter style by adding colored human hair. One nice combination is Sensationnel’s Wet and Wavy 100 percent human hair in colors 2 and 30. Braid the back of your hair with 2 and then mix 2 and 30 up front for an ombre effect.

Once the braids are in, you’ll want to do a little shaping. To make it look fantastic, we turned to celebrity stylist Mika Fowler — she does Olivia Munn‘s do ΓÇô- for a hairline trim.

“It’s so the hair moves,” the Beverly Hills-based stylist shared inside NYC’s city Eiji Salon. Known for her dry cuts, Mika says that “just a little trim can create some movement” in the hair. And why shouldn’t your braids have a little swing?

Mika suggests using a big barrel┬á curling iron, 1 ┬╜-inch, to create soft, beachy waves. “Bigger is better,” she declared.

You can learn more about Mika’s styles at her website. If you’re in NYC and craving the west coast look, visit Eiji New York. Tell ’em the DivaGals sent you!
