That’s why Style Gals were front at center at Bloomingdale’s Style+Soul= Spring event in New York City’s East Side. That evening, hosted by GQ magazine and Planet Green’s Fabulous Beekman Boys Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer Purcel (they’re back for a second season March 22), we enjoyed champagne, light bites and gorgeous models milling around in Bloomingdale’s newest suiting for men this spring.
Of course, if your man is anything like ours, he may need a little help on the shopping front. According to Bloomingdale’s sales team, here’s what you should look for to help him fill his closet.
Add A Little Color. Get your boyfriend to break out of his basic black and try a navy suit this spring to get some color into his wardrobe. He can also add a pocket square in his jacket breast pocket. Or you can add a pink tie or purple socks to add a little brightness, if he’s brave enough!
Upgrade His Sports Package. No, not on DIRECTV (though Sports Gal says that’s a great birthday idea!). We are talking about his sports jacket. It can be dressed up with a bow tie, or worn casually over a t-shirt. Upgrade to a classic cut with an Italian collection like Lardini.
Fit Is Everything. That’s the style mantra from Beekman Boys Brent and Josh. “A lot of guys will just pull something off the rack, including us, and think it looks okay,” says Brent. “But having the right fit makes a world of difference. You could by an inexpensive jacket and have it tailored, and it will look like a million bucks.” Well, Bloomingdale’s has tailors right on the premise, so you won’t have to drag your man kicking and screaming to the cleaners.
