SUMMER TCA 2012: ABC’s Possessed Real Estate, Country Gone Hollywood & Living Back Home!
By Delaina Dixon | July 30, 2012 | Entertainment
This week, TV DivaGal & Entertainment Gal recap the Television Critics Conference, Summer 2012!
TV DivaGal got off a plane and went straight into the ABC Summer Press Tour 2012, held at the Beverly Hilton last Friday. And it wasn’t a moment too soon, as the cast of 666 Park Avenue took the stage.
The DivaGals have already told you that we’ll watch anything with Desperate Housewives alum Vanessa Williams. It was good to learn more about her upcoming character, Olivia Duran, who with her husband Gavin (Terry O’Quinn) owns the Park Avenue building that may or may not be a gateway to Satan! They┬á definitely has devilishly intentions.
“This couple is very powerful,” shared Vanessa as she conjured up images of Donald Trump‘s real estate holdings and the Madoff‘s wealth — before his criminal scandal┬á — figures Vanessa thought about while creating her character.
And If it sounds like Vanessa’s had this zip code before, “It’s a little bit more like Wilhelmina Slater, who she worked her way up to the Upper East Side echelon,” Vanessa says, recalling her magazine mogul alter-ego from Ugly Betty. For 666 Park Avenue, it was just about throwing in some supernatural suspense and tension, though we’re sure Vanessa’s wardrobe will be just as fabulous!
We’re so ready to go “a little bit country” with the new comedy series, Malibu Country. TV DivaGal’s fave country singer Reba return in a new series and get this, it’s the first time she gets to play a country singer on TV! But what we really want to know is if Lily Tomlin, who plays Reba’s pot-smoking (for medicinal purposes!) mom is going to get a chance to work her pipes. “I’d like to,” she exclaims. “Wouldn’t that be good?” Lily Tomlin singing? Definitely!
The most interesting thing about ABC’s new show How to Live with Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life (besides its ridiculously long name!)? Creator Claudia Lonow actually did return home ΓÇô and hasn’t left yet! “The show is autobiographical,” Claudia revealed, adding she’s been living at home the past 15 years. “I really did say, ‘I hope this is a good time for you, because it isn’t for me,'” touching on the tag line Sarah Chalke‘s character Polly gives when she moves back home. Luckily, the rest of the cast: Brad Garrett, Elizabeth Perkins and Sarah — we’re all out of their parents’ houses by 18.
Tune in tomorrow for more Summer TCA 2012!
