We Were There! Sushidelic’s First Year Anniversary Party in New York City

SUSHIDELIC NYC is an eclectic, immersive Kawaii experience that combines cuteness with the edgy Japanese Harajuku Street culture of Tokyo. What can we say? It’s delicious, fabulous and a feast for all your senses.
For the Noho establishment’s first anniversary, we enjoyed extravagant signature dishes and Instagram-able cocktails, including the Matcha Tea Tini with a smoke bubble.
Next time, we’ll try the Sugar Plum Spritz, which features rock candy and edible glitter.
To add to the cheeky ambiance we were entertained by Monster Girl hostesses, flown in from Tokyo, each sporting colorful outfits all inspired by Harajuku Street style.
SUSHIDELIC is a joint venture between AUTEC (a leading manufacturer of commercial sushi robots that equip food service businesses globally) and Asobi Systems (an entertainment company that manages Japanese Pop artists). It was designed by artist Sebastian Masuda, also known as the “Godfather of Kawaii” and responsible for the Kawaii Monster Café in Tokyo and the fashion label 6% DOKIDOKI, to create a surreal world of maximalist design.
One of the coolest parts of SUSHIDELIC is its sushi bar, a custom conveyor belt that circulates throughout the bar and kitchen. It carries original sculptures by Masuda, such as neon teddy bears, bejeweled red stilettos, pink bow-shaped purses and a six-course omakase named Pure Imagination. Inventive dishes can be had, like a Caviar Scallop Macaron; Sushi Go Round presented on a Barbie pink Ferris wheel and the grand finale, a Chirashi Parfait, a savory play on the French dessert.
With fun food and a playful atmosphere, this is one trip to Japanese Harajuku Street you can take without leaving New York City!
