There’s this old saying that “Mother Knows Best.” I’m putting a 2012 twist on it and saying older sis knows best.
That was certainly the case in last night’s season finale of The Bachelor. Ben Flanjik, like so many other┬á clueless Bachelors before him, is of course drawn to the gal who caused the most ire in the house: Courtney Robertson. But he can’t possibly give good ring before he gets a full assessment from his female family counterparts: mom and sis!
Older sis wasted no time ΓÇô before she even met Courtney ΓÇô to point out that being involved with a model who every one in the house hated is bad news. Then there was the actual meet and greet, and sis could barely hide her discontent. She questioned Courtney’s intentions for Ben, and surprisingly Courtney handled it graciously, which won sis over. Be we the viewers know better — Ben should have run as fast as he could.
Instead, Ben pursued what his heart “really wanted” and asked Courtney to marry him. She giggled as she slipped into the ring, swearing that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.
Rest of her life meaning about three months because as we learned in the After the Rose special last night,┬á Ben and Courtney are all ready on the rocks. Not shockingly, Ben really couldn’t handle seeing Courtney be a selfish, elusive, conniving game player in the house, and dumped her model butt. Yes, I know, they claimed they wanted to get back together and Courtney even slipped her engagement ring back on. But get this: I’ve met Chris Harrison and he can pretty much work the conversation to get you to say anything. So don’t expect that forced reconciliation to last.
Here’s this black girl’s perspective for Ben, and any of the lovely men who come on The Bachelor looking for love. The girls who are crazy, dramatic, demanding, self-oriented, manipulative, aggressive and hated ΓÇô- and you know which contestants have been in the past ΓÇô- are not marriage material. Be bold and brazen and try your luck on the nice gal. She actually may make you feel truly, deeply and madly in love once the cameras stop rolling.
