The Bachelor Jake Pavelka: One Way Ticket to the Altar?
By Delaina Dixon | December 16, 2009 | EntertainmentReady to Wed credit: K. Foley/ABC
The Bachelor has gone through a zillion rounds (13 to be exact), and not one man has ever made it to the altar with his final rose choice. (Sorry Jason Mesnick. Getting engaged to your runner up Molly Malaney doesn’t count in my book!)
That could all change with the newest edition, Bachelorette alum Jake Pavelka, according to series host Chris Harrison.
“Jake is serious about why he’s on the show, and that is to find the woman of his dreams, more than maybe any guy we’ve ever had,” Chris tells the TV DivaGal exclusively.
“That’s what his parents and his brothers have. He’s kind of the odd man out, and he really wants it.”
The 31-year-old commercial pilot from Dallas, Tex., gets the usual set-up of 25 beautiful women who watched him get his heart broken with reigning Bachelorette Jillian Harris. They immediately start vying for his attention upon introduction.
“There are girls there who definitely knew all about Jake, and some took the subtle approach,” Chris says. “Some went over the top and knew a little too much about him and you have to ask, ‘Are you a fan or are you here to fall in love?'”
It soon becomes apparently clear whom Jake is drawn to during their first night at the Malibu mansion.
“He’s not a good poker player,” Chris laughs. “You could tell the girls he liked and the girls could tell, too. Immediately, emotions started rising. It got pretty tense.”
As for those who still think Jake put on a bit of a show when he returned to The Bachelorette last season to warn Jillian that one of her suitors, Wes Hayden, had a girlfriend back home, Chris says give Jake a second chance.
“If there’s anyone who deserves that happy ending, it’s Jake,” Chris declares. “I’ve never met anyone who’s tried harder to make it work on this show, as far as the guys go. He has the mentality that this a great opportunity to find a phenomenal woman.”
Chris also stresses that this season, “will be one of our most talked about, debated and discussed we’ve ever had.”
Well, we’ve already had a Bachelor leave both ladies at the altar, and another switch up his runner-up and first choice. The only way Jake is gonna to impress this TV DivaGal is if he marries the last girl standing right after he proposes at the final rose ceremony!
As for the last two brave souls to look for love on the series, Chris says, “Jason and Molly are obviously engaged and they are going to get married. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Jillian and Ed wouldn’t be too far behind.” Spoiler Alert: Jillian and her fianc├⌐ Ed Swiderski return to the series with a special announcement in the first episode!
As for reports that Ed cheated on Jillian during the show’s run, Chris replies, “The good news is that the magazine that attacked him have found other stories to go off and do. They survived and they are doing great and are extremely happy.”
And what about Wes, the most despised Bachelorette contestant of all time, who blamed his bad behavior on the show’s editing? Chris simply states, “Wes needs to remember that we have 90 percent of it still on tape. Anytime he wants to come back and take a look at just how bad he was, I think instead of complaining about editing, he’ll be kissing our feet.”
