It seems like only yesterday we watched Emily Maynard practically dump Brad Womack on The Bachelor: After the Rose special.
Well, get ready for another wild ride because the Bachelor franchise is back tonight with its seventh cycle of The Bachelorette. In the rose-colored seat? Ashley Herbert, the 26-year-old dental student who had a hard time opening up to Brad, but not to the TV DivaGal!
“After meeting all of these men I realized how Brad wasnΓÇÖt the best fit for me and I wasnΓÇÖt the best fit for Brad,” Ashley admitted last week in a conference call. “He was older and he was very settled in, and I was looking for somebody to create a new life together.”
Of course, I wanted to know if she went into the show with any thoughts of marriage on her mind (after all, that is the series’ goal, right?).
“I think that I reached a point in my life where I know that if I were to meet the right person, I would be ready, but only if I were to meet somebody that made me feel like I was ready,” Ashley shared with TV DivaGal.
“Going into this, I definitely had the mindset that I have my career in place and I felt really good, and I was wearing that on a personal level. I feel like I have a lot to offer and I have a great mindset about being in a committed relationship.”
Okay, so maybe we won’t hear wedding bells ring in the finale episode, but at least Ashley doesn’t plan to use this stint as her springboard to TV fame. “I donΓÇÖt think I would be a good entertainer I will tell you that,” she declared. “I am actually looking to go straight into dentistry. I will be getting my degree very shortly and I donΓÇÖt have any plans in doing anything in entertainment.”
See Jake, it is possible to go back to your chosen profession!
The Bachelorette premieres Monday, May 23 at 9:01 p.m. on ABC.
