Beyond the hit shows that take over our explore page, hidden gems are buried beneath the clutter. Luckily, we’ve dug deep to find the best shows you’re probably missing out on.
This week, we’re obsessed with Behind Her Eyes, a 2021 Netflix thriller that had our eyes peeled for clues as the sticky entanglement grew between a single mother and her boss—and his wife.
Why should you tune in?
For mystery lovers, Behind Her Eyes leaves an intriguing trail of breadcrumbs to piece together single mother Louise’s (Simona Brown) strange and complicated romantic relationship with her boss, David (Tom Bateman) and her friendship with his wife, Adele (Eve Hewson). While the affair is unconventional and messy at the start, Adele’s big secret hides another level of danger and suspense as Louise gets pulled in deeper and deeper. Just like the bestselling book, the supernatural twist will have new viewers’ heads spinning.
The plot is perfectly executed by its cast. Brown and Hewson sell the intensity in both their relationship with each other and the supernatural scenario that they both find themselves ensnared in.
The perfectly packaged six-episode series is the perfect show to watch over a weekend and rave about when you step back into the office on Monday.
Why are we obsessed?
Don’t get us wrong: Behind Her Eyes has a hint of romance, but if you’re looking for a February watch that leans away from the sappy-sweet love story, this thriller deserves a spot on your watchlist. The limited series delivers exactly the kind of mystery that fans tune in for based on the title alone. It’s a twisted thriller that blurs the line between desire, trust, and desperation when you’re unsure whether all the red flags are just your mind playing tricks on you.
Fans of the show online were either all in on the shock ending or bewildered at the final spectacle—so it’s definitely an experience we recommend everyone tune into once.
