The Biggest Loser's Wayne Vandenlangenberg: How He Did It!
By Delaina Dixon | April 6, 2010 | Entertainment On The Biggest Loser last week, we met Wayne Vandenlangenberg, who was inspired by the show to lose more than 400 lbs.
So how did Wayne, who was 674 lbs. and confined to a wheelchair, do it on his own?
“I stopped eating all red meat and pork,” Wayne declares. “I limit myself to chicken, fish and turkey. And I stopped all soda products.”
Wayne also cut out refined sugar. “Cakes, cookies and no white flour products, rice. I actually cut it out from day one.”
That meant skipping the aisles in the supermarket that had his favorite snacks, one of the reasons he piled on the pounds.
So how did Wayne put on all that excess weight in the first place?
“I was like a hoarder, going from one place to the next and then I would go home and make another meal,” Wayne confesses. “It was a 30-year build-up.”
Wayne also got moving.
“My own gym was myself walking,” Wayne shares, adding that he’s looking forward to his trip to the Biggest Loser ranch. “I never had the experience of someone training me to get fit. This is going to be a whole new experience for me.”
As was one other experience that Wayne couldn’t wait to do once he lost the weight.
“Shopping,” he declares.TV DivaGal can really relate to that!
