The CW TV Press Tour Summer 2019! All American Won’t Be In High School Forever!By The DivaGals | August 5, 2019 | Entertainment
Divas, it’s usually that time of year when TV DivaGal heads out to Los Angeles to hit up the network TV Press Tour panels. Even though I had to put my summer trek on ice, I have some very dedicated spies at the events to bring you all the TV entertainment news you could possibly want! First up? The CW’s All American.
The series follows Spencer James (Daniel Ezra), a South Crenshaw high school football star who is given the chance of a lifetime when he is recruited by Beverly High School’s football coach Billy Baker (Taye Diggs). But he quickly finds out life in the 90210 address isn’t as grand as it seems. Inspired by the life of former NFL player Spencer Paysinger, series executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll answered one the show’s biggest questions: will these kids be in high school far past their expected graduation date?
“The beauty of All American in sports is it carries through high school. It carries through college. It carries afterward. And there was definitely a lot of forethought put into that by all of us,” Carroll shared. “I mean, I
don’t know about y’all, but I looked like this in high school, so we can ride them for a while.”
Carroll then went to say that they will leave high school in a timely manner. “There is a plan for what the show looks like and how we keep everyone together after it. These guys up here are very much my second
family, and they’re going to be stuck with me for a really long while.”
We don’t mind being held back a year for that one bit. Tune in for season two of All American starting Oct. 7 on The CW.
