Would you join the army to win your mother’s love? That’s the question posed in the new film, The Inspection. Written and directed by Elegance Bratton, this memoir movie details his own journey as a gay Black man to find some stability and discipline in his life after living on the streets for a decade since 16. He joins the army, only to put up with physical and mental torment from fellow cadets and leaders. Jeremy Pope gives a quietly powerful performance in the leading role opposite Gabrielle Union, who plays his disapproving mom and produced the award-winning film. It’s a lesson on the extent we’ll push to become the best version of ourselves in the eyes of others, only to learn the only person we truly need to embrace is ourselves. In theaters today.

Tuesday, November 22, is Complexions’ annual gala, hosted by Tony, Grammy, Emmy and Oscar award-winning artist, Whoopi Goldberg.

Inspired by a true story, four ladies of a distinctive age head to the Super Bowl in 2017 to see their favorite player, Tom Brady, in action. Well, he’s back on the fields ladies, so we may need 80 For Brady: Part II! 80 FOR BRADY is in theaters on Feb. 3, 2023.
