TNT’s CLAWS – A Diva Snap Review

This is what we are watching this summer! From the very creative executive producer Rashida Jones,┬áClaws premiered last night on TNT!

It’s a posse of nail pros that you don’t want to mess with. This story is set in a South Florida nail salon, and follows the rise of five diverse and treacherous manicurists working at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon, where there is “a lot more going on than silk wraps and pedicures.”

Claws is about good women caught in bad places with even worse men. Led by Niecy Nash’s Desna, whose talent just extends in every corner,┬áthink of her character as the hooker with a heart of gold. There’s Virginia (Karreuche Tran), the millennial who has little patience for “paying her dues,” and she is hyper sexualized, and of course, slut shamed. ┬áCarrie Preston plays Polly┬áthe once-young conservative recently released from jail for identity theft and Quiet Ann,┬áJudy Reyes, who is the lesbian “muscle.”

Last night’s “OMG”moment was courtesy of Karrueche (yes, Chris Brown’s ex), when her character had a redemptive moment. This is a ride-or-die sorority with Neicy playing the den mother.
