The holidays start in a week, which means you could get a waistline as big as your booty. And we just can’t have that!
So we’re bringing you TONE UP! Tuesdays to help you keep that physique sleek. First up? 305 Fitness, by fitness contributor Helen Koya!
Even though my fitnesses of choice are power lifting, bodybuilding and working out in a gym, I am and have always been a BIG advocate to alternative fitness options and finding what works for you, your body and your schedule.
Having just lifted heavy one morning with squats and bench, I was pretty excited to try a new form of exercise called 305 Fitness. I had absolutely no idea what to expect as I wanted to go into it absolutely clueless, without any preconceived ideas.
Turns out 305 Fitness is a cardio workout that’s part dance class, part nightclub rave. The music was pumping. The energy was extremely elevated. The lights were colorful. Is this really a workout?
When you first enter itΓÇÖs like stepping into the city circle from Hunger Games: very futuristic looking and bright. I was guided downstairs to a basement style dance studio for the class. And then it was time to shimmy and sweat.
As I moved and grooved to heavy bass and club music remixes, I felt was definitely getting a good alternative to a Zumba class.
The evening ended with a cocktail party with DJ Jane Doze. Why we have candy and ice-cream to feast on with different cocktails is a little beyond me, but sometimes you got to treat yourself.
If you want to feel like you are partying away in a nightclub but really are working out, 305 Fitness would be right up your alley. It’s not a muscle-building workout, but for cardio endurance it’s great.
