Break out the tequila, gals! Bachelor Pad premieres tonight.

There’s 19 contestants from past seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette tossed under one roof to look for love, and to compete for $250,000. Thought-provoking TV? Please!

“This is fun, all-star, don’t-think-too-hard summer television,” Bachelor host Chris Harrison schooled me at the ABC Summer Press All-Star party last week, adding the new series is not a spin-off.

“This is a different franchise,” Chris explained, referring to Bachelor Pad‘s competitions and cash prize. “We’ve always wanted to do an all-star edition of The Bachelor, but we can’t taint our show. Our show, the Bachelor/Bachelorette is about love. We would never screw with that. This is the way to screw with it.”

More importantly, “everyone is in on the joke,” Chris stressed about Bachelor Pad. “It’s an homage to our fans. We’re bringing back your favorites, and it’s ‘Let’s have a good time.’ It’s sexy, pretty and crazy.”

And how should we watch, Chris?

“Get your girls together with batch of margaritas and have fun.”

Bachelor Pad premieres Monday, Aug. 9 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
