TV DIVAGAL Show You Gotta Watch: Necessary Roughness

TV DivaGal has to be honest. When I first heard USA Network was launching a show about a psychotherapist who deals with athletes and other famous people in peril, I thought “Pass.” Thank goodness for PR intervention and a long ride down south.

If it wasn’t for these two twists of fate, I wouldn’t have previewed USA’s newest summer offering Necessary Roughness. After learning her husband has been serial cheating on her, Dr. Dani Santino has her own twist of fate (in the form of major hottie Marc Blucas), which sets her burgeoning career on a new path: as a psychotherapist to the rich and unstable.

Her first case? A football player with anger issues. Luckily, Dr. Dani isn’t one to back down, even when she has to dispense advice at a strip club! This while juggling her nasty divorce and unruly teens.

So what makes the show compelling? Actress Callie Thorne, who plays the good doc, serves ups a daily dose of spitfire-ness you would expect from a Real Housewife of Long Island, and it affects real change for her clients. And did I mention hottie Marc Blucas up above?

Yes, Necessary Roughness is a touchdown in heels. Check out the premiere Wednesday, June 29 at 10 p.m. on USA Network.
