Every once in a while, TV DivaGal likes to step outside her viewing comfort zone (bye-bye SYTYCD!), and try something new. And so it goes with the new FX dramedy Wilfred.
Cutie Elijah Wood plays Ryan, a guy down on his luck. That’s when a beautiful girl moves next door with her adorable pup Wilfred. For some strange reason, Ryan envisions Wilfred as a grown Australian man in a cheap dog suit who’s got a potty mouth, humps stuffed animals and gets the two of them into a heap of trouble. It’s Ryan’s imaginary BIBF: bad influence best friend!
This week, Ryan needs money. So Wilfred crashes Ryan’s car into another, thinking it will score him a payday. Instead, a ruthless executive, played by Malcolm in the Middle alum Jane Kaczmarek, wants payback, and it’s not in the form of money. Wilfred arranges for Ryan to go to her home and pull off the dirty deed, but mostly because he wants hook up with her son’s stuffed animal, an oversized toy giraffe, which he spotted in the back of the dented car. Trippy!
This is a pretty clean site, so I’ll only say what Jane’s character asks for happens below the border. If that doesn’t freak you out, there’s a very graphic scene between Wilfred and the giraffe. Never knew such things could be done with a stuffed animal…
Wilfred isn’t for everyone — not for most people actually — but if you tune in for tonight’s episode, you’ll definitely earn your TV street cred for having watched just about anything.
Wilfred airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on FX.
