That’s why I was stoked to learn there was going to be a hook-up at the after-party for the premiere screening of Mega Python Vs. Gatoroid, Syfy’s campy thriller starring Debbie Gibson and Tiffany. Yes, the ’80s teen pop icons in the flesh.
I got to watch the girls, who have endured decades of rumors of being at each other throats, finally duke it out over mutant snakes and alligators in the upcoming Saturday night flick. That’s one way to end a feud!
I then headed to Good Eats, a new lounge in the basement of the Hudson Hotel in midtown Manhattan, for the post-festivities.
After listening to former rapper Doug E. Fresh spin tunes from three decades ago, I fearlessly took the stage with my partner in crime, fellow reporter Shaina Moskowitz, for a soulful duet of “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” followed by everyone’s fave karaoke anthem, Journey‘s “Don’t Stop Believing.”
Turns out that Tiffany and Debbie had performed their own duet of the song in concert this past Saturday. Tiffany was still feeling the vibe because she pointed on stage while Shaina and I were belting it out and asked if she could make it a trio.
The moment was perfectly pitched as Tiffany harmonized with us, even if I didn’t hit every one the notes right. Hearing Tiffany’s run on the last verse, from literally one foot away… priceless.
Thanks Tiffany for making something that was only in my dreams a reality!
