TV DIVAGAL: The Bachelor Ben Flajnik – How Will We Not Hate Him?By Delaina Dixon | December 19, 2011 | Entertainment
The New Year is just two weeks away, which can only mean one thing — The Bachelor returns for 2012!
Die hard Bachelor fans know that on the last season of The Bachelorette, Ashley Hebert chose J.P. Rosenbaum (who we ran into last week) over wine maker Ben Flajnik — bummer, right? Not really because Ben’s now The Bachelor!
Of course that’s a double sword. As much as we loved Ben’s sincerity on The Bachelorette, it’s been almost impossible for TV DivaGal to keep loving contestant-turned-Bachelor one he’s handing out the roses (yes Jake Pavelka, I’m talking about you!). So how does Ben plan to keep us, the viewers, on his good side after his round of rose ceremonies?
“You hate me? Really,” Ben declared when TV DivaGal posed him with this very question …
“I think thereΓÇÖs always going to be critics no matter what decision I make,” Ben continued. “You know, there were critics last time on the Bachelorette for me. So, itΓÇÖs something that, it doesnΓÇÖt really get under my skin. It doesnΓÇÖt bother me. I’m kind of a laid back dude anyway. That part of the experience really isnΓÇÖt something I ever think about.”
Since he has been on the receiving end, we had to know, did Ben develop a process to keep the heartbreak to a minimum? “There is this stigma that being in a power position. So you have to be, you know, sweet about it,” Beb shared. “I do a little bit more sugarcoating. I mean, obviously itΓÇÖs a different position … itΓÇÖs difficult. No one wants to be sent home and not given the chance to spend any more time with you.”
“I was on the other side. So my heart goes out to the, you know, the women that I had to say good-bye to.”
Hmmm, maybe we won’t hate Ben that much. But time will tell!
The Bachelor, season premiere with Ben Flanjik, begins Monday, Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
