TV DivaGal Watch: The Craigslist Killer – Would You Know Your Boyfriend Lived a Double Life?By Delaina Dixon | January 3, 2011 | Entertainment
That’s what happened to Megan McAllister, the real-life ex-fiance of Philip Markoff, also known as the “Craigslist Killer.”
The Boston University medical student was accused of targeting women who offered erotic services through Craigslist, and was charged with the murder of Julissa Brisman, a fellow NYC Diva who was working as a masseuse to make a living to pay for her college studies (and we respect that), in Boston in April 2009.
The facts of the case are pretty straightforward: boy commits horrific crime and gets caught. What makes the story so interesting is how the film portrays his ex, Megan, as a woman who stands behind her man (until the evidence became overwhelming impossible to ignore), even when she has moments of doubt of his sincerity before the fatal crime.
Gossip Girl‘s Billy Baldwin, who stars in the movie as a detective who cracks the case, gives some insight on why Megan, and other people who knew Philip, may have been blind to the darker side of the killer’s personality. “He was simultaneously, disturbed and perverted and bordering on evil, and yet he was very bright and charming at the same time,” Billy shares.
So we’re curious. Have you ever dated a guy and even though you felt he was hiding something, stayed in the relationship? Did you learn the truth and how did it end? Share with us below.
The Craigslist Killer airs Monday, Jan. 3 at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.
