TV SHOW TO WATCH TONIGHT: The Following – Series Premiere!

TV DivaGal watched the second episode of The Following first and it scared the dickens out of me. But it also got me curious … How did ex-FBI agent Ryan Hardy, played by the amazing Kevin Bacon, finally catch with sadistic serial killer Joe Carroll, played convincingly by James Purefoy, a psycho mastermind now hellbent on making Ryan’s life a living hell — and he’ll do it though he’s in maximum lockdown — and what’s the real deal behind the longing looks between Ryan and Joe’s ex-wife Claire?

Questions were answered when the DivaGals attended the Fox premiere screening of the new series at the New York Public Library Friday night. Maple bacon popcorn in hand, we settled in for one scary ride. Ryan did put Joe, a charismatic and deadly serial killer who’s obsessed with the writer Edgar Allan Poe, behind bars years ago. But Joe feels his greatest work isn’t finished, and he’s determined to keep his killing masterpiece going through all his dedicated followers (damn you, social media!).

At the screening post-party, we asked James about his creepy alter-ego, and if he knows if Joe has an end plan to his sick cat and mouse game. “He does,” James told us in his charming British lilt, “and he’s controlling everything.” Shiver!

We also spoke to gorgeous Natalie Zea, who plays Claire, and she shared that she’s not scared with what she has to act out on the screen. “I get the script, and I’m more like, ‘hmmm…'”
