TVDIVAGAL: All My Children and One Life to Live Premiere Again!By Delaina Dixon | April 29, 2013 | Entertainment
TV DivaGal has a long history with the soaps. I shed a tear when ABC cancelled All My Children and One Life to Live. It felt like the end of an era. But thanks to Prospect Park productions, the shows are back!
Beginning, today AMC and OLTL are being served up online, daily in 30-minutes chunks, with many of the characters we’ve grown to know and love. The DivaGals were invited to see the premiere episodes in a VIP screening in New York City last week.
In Pine Valley — AMC‘s locale — it’s five years into the future, after the shooting at the Chandler estate. On OLTL, we pick up where we left off when the show last aired.
While AMC and OLTL tap into their rich history ΓÇô even turning to series creator Agnes Nixon, who first brought the shows to air in in 1970 and 1968 respectively, this ain’t your grandma’s soaps.
AMC/OLTL take full advantage of their new shooting locale in Stamford, Ct. adding many more exterior scenes shot in the city’s scenic locale (We loved the town’s Pine Valley sign). There are inside jokes about being an online platform, raunchier sex scenes and more colorful language than could have ever been said on network TV.
And that may be TV DivaGal’s biggest fault with the series. Just because you can say bad words and show a little more skin, doesn’t mean you have two. AMC/OLTL survived more than 40 years without getting too frisky, and that’s something that should be respected (out of respect for your grandma!)
With that said, OLTL fans will be pleased to find out how T├⌐a is coping with the death of her husband, Victor Lord Jr. (formerly known as Todd Manning II) and her baby-to-be as well, as well as what’s going on with Destiny and Matthew’s bundle of joy.
Over in Pine Valley, diehard AMC fans will finally found out what happened that fateful night five years ago ΓÇô who lived? Did anybody die?
All soap fans are asking the inevitable question: will Erica Cain ever be back in Pine Valley? Watch our video below for some inside scoop on that!
All My Children and One Life to Live premiere Monday, April 29 on www.Hulu.com and iTunes.
