WATCH THIS! Chipo Chung In A.D. The Bible ContinuesBy Maureen Martin | April 2, 2015 | Entertainment
This is Easter weekend so we know you are looking for something faith based to watch to commemorate. Our choice is the 12-week mini-series A.D. The Bible Continues with breakout star Chipo Chung.
Chipo plays Mary Magdelene. Her interpretation of Jesus’ BFF is Mary as an educated, career woman who used her earnings to support the early Church. Contrary to popular belief Mary was not a woman of the night but a woman of enterprise who may have been a hairdresser by profession and was healed of numerous illnesses. More importantly, she was trusted by the Messiah to be present at the crucifixion and the resurrection.
Born of a Chinese mother and an African father, Chipo grew up in Zimbabwe. She’s Harvard educated and spent a few years as a New Yorker! With her diverse background, we know this girl has some interesting curves in her hair and a deep appreciation for Keratin! We shared our love of Beautiful Curls and gave her some samples to take home.
Why do we love love her? For one thing she shares our “girl crush” on ageless actress Dame Helen Mirren. Chipo is a survivor! She spent the first two years of her life in a refuge camp in Zimbabwe. She is an activist, keeps in shape with Kung Fu, loves good food and conversation, and shopping indie designers.
We could have spent hours chatting with Chipo about life and travel, but the short version is that she tells us we must visit Morocco!
A.D. The Bible Continues premieres Easter Sunday, April 5 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
