TV Contributor Angela Yvonne chats with Jada Pinkett Smith about her groundbreaking gotham role, and the future character she is excited about.

What can you not say about Jada Pinkett Smith? She is a mother, singer, wife, activist and of course, an actress. Jada came into our lives on A Different World and since then she has been Setting It Off, literally.

She now plays Fish Mooney on Gotham, and we don’t mind saying it, she’s kinda a badass . Fish Mooney is the only character that did not come from comic book lore, which makes her original and special, just like Jada!

I read that when you decided to audition for the role of Fish Mooney, You came in with a shirtless man on leash and the word “liar” written across his forehead! What gave you the instinct to show that is what Fish Mooney embodied?

It wasnΓÇÖt an audition, it was a work session. I felt it was best to show you what Fish was about versus talking about it. It was a very short session to say in the least, lol. They were very clear on who she was after that.

You are known for playing strong characters. Which has been your favorite, and is there one you want to play in future?

I love playing Fish Mooney. As the series goes on, you will get to see the different sides of Fish. I see her as an extreme version of a woman. I love how smart and perceptive she is…but she is a criminal! Out of all the things she could have been, she chose criminal, lol!

Is there a character you want to play in the future?

The character that I play in Magic Mike 2, I think is going to be my next favorite character to
date. She is totally different from any character that I have played. She is strong but in a different way. We have gotten a lot of positive response from it and I am happy about that.
