WATCH THIS! The One Thing The Following’s Michael Ealy Can’t Do!
By Angela Yvonne | March 30, 2015 | EntertainmentMichael Ealy has been a blessing to our eyes for years. From The Barbershop, Their Eyes Were Watching God and For Color Girls, Michael is a force to be reckoned with.
Michael has stepped in as Theo, the newest villain in the third season premiere of The Following, also starring Kevin Bacon. Here he reveals his thoughts on playing the bad guy, and some other surprising things!
You seem like a really laid back person. How hard is it to play the villain and does it take long to detox from that dark place?
Interesting question. I actually thought about how dark I would become playing this character and coming home having to detox. The beautiful thing about having a family is that it brings you back to reality and I am just playing pretend. Theo would not be changing dirty diapers though! The crew I work with is super amazing.  They keep it real lighthearted on set with jokes in between so it has been great.
Tell something that we would be surprised to know about you?
I do sing and I do music but it would never qualify as such (laughs). I love to sing. I just canΓÇÖt. It would be unbearable. My son loves it when I sing. I donΓÇÖt share that often. I can hold a note but not like John Legend who can really sing. And I am great at beating on the table! I am the Questlove of beating tables! But not a drum set to save my life.
I loved you as Tea Cake in Their Eyes were God and the crazy husband in For Colored Girls. Is there a part you want to play in a bio pic and who would that be?
Yes, But I canΓÇÖt tell you what it is (laughs). The reason is that you would print it and someone would go buy the rights to the film. Yes a bio is definitely on my bucket list and would be a joy.
Just putting it out there, but we think you could do Smokey Robinson, Michael — singing or lip syncing your heart out!
Tune in to The Following, Monday March 30 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
