Morris Chestnut stars in hit show Rosewood, which kicks off its midseason premiere tonight! Morris plays pathologist Dr. Rosewood who helps Detective Annalise Villa (played by Jaina Lee Ortiz) catch the bad guys.
When we last watched, Rosie and Villa were trying to catch a serial killer while dealing with their respective romantic entanglements. Will that lead to more of their personal lives on screen?
Nicole Ferrell — Nic For Reel — had a chance to chat with Morris, who said, “Yes you will definitely see more of those personal lives.”
Morris is back working with his pal Taye Diggs, who plays Dr. Mike Boyce, who’s interested in Detective Villa! Morris and Taye appeared together in The Best Man. “It’s always good working with a friend that you have known for over a decade, it’s like working with family,” he shares.
Morris also talks about working on a TV set vs. a movie. “On a movie set they can say ‘let’s be on set ready to work by 8 a.m.,’ but then we wouldn’t really start until 12 p.m. On a network show everything is on time and you have to really know your stuff. Playing a doctor on TV I had to get use to using a lot of huge words and knowing everything on the spot.”
And of course, we had to find out about his style! The show did ask Morris for his character’s style input. “Sometimes I do wear a t-shirt with a blazer and some jeans… I do like to wear suits with no tie and a button-up shirt opened down to like the second or third button,” says Morris of his own personal style. “But now when people see me with a blazer and some jeans and a t-shirt, now they say, oh, youΓÇÖre dressing like your character!”The one word Morris would use to describe Rosewood’s style? “Stylish,” he chuckles.
Will Rosie and Villa ever let each other know it’s more than just a friendship? Will Rosie make it work with his love interest Kat? Will Villa and Dr. Mike make it more than what it is now? Will they ever catch the serial killer that got away? We’ll keep you posted — plus who wouldn’t want to see all that Chocolate on one show?
Tune in to Rosewood March 2 at 9 p.m. on FOX. Sherri Shepherd guest stars.
